So last weekend I went to use the oven for the first time in my new house. After preheating I went to put my cinnamon buns in the oven and it was stone cold to my surprise. I think I was more crushed over the fact that cinnamon buns weren't going to happen than that the stove wasn't working.
Now at this point my house was in full unpacking mode. So sitting in the kitchen on top of a box was my waffle iron. Now I'm not going to take credit for coming up with this amazing idea because I have seen it before on Pinterest. I just never actually clicked through to see how it was done. So when this genius Pinterest inspired idea struck I decided this was the only way I would be able to have cinnamon rolls that morning.
I sprayed the waffle iron with non stick cooking spray and added my cinnamon bun to the middle of the iron and closed the iron.
Now I checked on it periodically because I had no idea how long it would take to cook. It only took about 2 mins vs. the normal 10-14 minutes that the oven takes. This seems like a total no brainer if you have a waffle iron! I'm not sure if I'm ever going to put them in the oven again.
Since that past weekend I even made them again before work. Now I don't normally eat breakfast before work but its so fast I didn't even mind. I hope you enjoyed this kitchen hack and I want to leave you with one question. While writing this post I couldn't figure out what to call them do you call them cinnamon buns or cinnamon rolls? I kept going back and forth so you tell me!
Also an update my landlord has since bought me an amazing new stove!
