Shutter Holiday Card Holder

It’s day five and the final day of the Holiday Craft Party I’ve had such a blast this week with Simply Kelly Designs, Two Purple Couches, The House Down the Lane and Where the Smiles Have Been! I love decorating my house for the holidays with items I already have. In this case I had plantation shutters in my basement that I had picked up over a year and a half ago at the Brimfield antique fair. I didn’t really buy this with intention but just knew I loved the shutters. 

Every year I am fortunate enough to get a bunch of Holiday cards in the mail. I always struggle on how to display them. Last year I did a fun washi tape display on my wall but with some of the cards being so heavy I was constantly picking cards off the floor. So when I was tasked with today’s theme of home decor I knew this was a project I wanted to tackle and I was off to the basement to shop my own supplies. 

I started off by deciding where this display was going to live and ultimately decided on my sofa table. Not wanting to put wood on wood I made a burlap table runner for the shutters to sit upon. 

I picked up some miniature clothes pins from amazon. I used these to hold the cards to the shutter. 

This project was so simple and an easy way to decorate for the holidays. I may even keep this up all year long because I am at the age where I am getting a wedding invitation in the mail about once a month. 

I just want to reiterate you don’t have to go out and spend tons of money on holiday decor when you can just get creative and shop your own home. You never know what you might find in your basement.
