Can you believe that it’s already December?! Do you know what that means? It’s the last Silhouette Challenge of 2014! We always like to make these challenges the best by thanking you guys for crafting with us through out the year. This week we will be giving away not one but TWO Silhouette cutting machines! First place will win a Cameo and second will win a Portrait! So make sure you stick around until the end of this post.

The past month I have been loving making these chalkboard Christmas signs. In fact I even made one for last months challenge too. They are simple to make and really seem to have the wow factor when I give them out as gifts. So if your on my Christmas list you might be getting one 😉

What you’ll need:

• Frame
• Cabinet Paint Roller
• Chalkboard Paint
• Paint Brush
• Paint
• Silhouette
White Vinyl
• Hook tool
• Transfer Paper
• Scraper

Now the other day I hit the mother load at Target. I bought 11 frames on clearance. Yes 11! I hit up two different Targets on my way home. The one I am using was one of my favorites of the bunch.

Taking out the glass use chalkboard paint (I used Valspar) and roll the paint onto the glass. Now I usually do 3 coats letting each coat dry in between application. This is going to be your chalkboard background.

When choosing a design in the Silhouette store I knew I want to do something alittle bit different than what I had done before. I wanted to find words that made up an image. So when I found this Christmas Word Tree from Kolette Hall I knew it would be perfect.

I used white vinyl from Silhouette (also Oracle vinyl will work either 631 or 651). Place vinyl on the cutting mat. Some people place the vinyl directly in the machine but I have found if you place it on the mat (either 12×12 or 12×24) the vinyl will stay in place less likely to slip. Using the preset vinyl settings on the Silhouette cut your piece of vinyl.

Now for the full tutorial on how to transfer the vinyl on to the chalkboard check out my post from last month’s challenge here.

And now the moment you have been waiting all year for the Silhouette Giveaway!
