Kids Crayon Valentines

DIY Kid’s Crayon Valentines with Cricut.

I cannot believe January is mostly behind us. That means it’s time to start crafting for Valentine’s Day. I want to share with you how to make kid’s crayon valentines that are perfect for classroom exchanges.

What you’ll need

Open up the design space file here. Now this project has a few different materials and techniques. You are going to have to insert your mat twice. First load your mat with vinyl. Click make it in design space. Select your machine and your first material, which is vinyl. Click the double arrow button to load your mat. Once your mat is loaded click the blinking “C” on your machine.

Once your vinyl is cut we are going to load the mat with your cardstock. I used deluxe paper foil embossed. Now you are going to want to follow instructions in design space. Make sure to choose your second material before placing in your second mat. Next you will want to insert your scoring tool into side B you are now ready to load your mat and hit the blinking C.

Now once the Cricut is done scoring do not unload the mat. You are going to replace the scoring wheel with the fine point blade. Then the Cricut will cut the shape out.

I love to multi task so while the Cricut is cutting I started to weed out the excess vinyl around our lettering. Most of the time I use the hook tool but on intricate cuts I use my exacto knife to weed.

Now that the Cricut is done cutting it is time to make our crayon box. Using Cricut spatula tool I lifted the edges of our paper off the matt until it fully came off. Using transfer tape transfer the vinyl on to the transfer tape.

Place the transfer tape on to foil paper. Using your scraper tool or credit card lightly rub your vinyl onto it. Peel off the transfer tape and making sure to pull low and slow to make sure the vinyl is sticking to the paper.

Now along the score line fold your crayon holder adding a few dabs of hot glue to hold the piece together. Fill it up with Crayons and you have a fun and original Valentine’s day exchange.
