My sister and brother-in-law are expecting their first child (see their cute cookie announcement here). Our two families are so excited. For our side Jenny is the first to have a baby. On Mother’s day Jenny and Michael made the announcement (below) that they were expecting in November. So it only seemed fitting that they should have a gender reveal on Father’s Day when both our families were together.

Now my sister is a baking enthusiast she is so creative and talented. She is always baking for everyone else so this time she wanted to get something for herself from a baker. After scouring Pinterest for hours she combined a few ideas, consulting me of course ;). She called up Guilty Bakery in Plymouth.

They did such a wonderful job. It was a lemon coconut cake to be died pink or blue. The top of the cake asked the question that everyone wanted to know, he or she what will it be? And Jenny has an obsession with birds so the pink and blue fondant birds were a perfect addition.

Now the timing on the cake and the ultra sound was tight. The ultra sound was Wednesday and they were picking up the cake on Saturday. So Jenny and Michael went to their appointment and in a sealed envelope the ultrasound tech wrote the sex of the baby. Jenny then handed it to a friend and coworker that she new could keep the secret and she called the bakery to let them know. Jenny and Michael wanted to be just as surprised as the rest of the family.

We got to Jenny and Michael’s house and Jenny was anxious. She wanted to cut the cake even before everyone was in the door and definitely before we all ate dinner.

Here we go! He or She what will it be?!

Michael saw a peek of the cake color on the knife but the rest of us were still clueless.

AHHHH!!!! It’s a boy!

Michael was jumping for joy! Literally.

Jenny and Michael couldn’t be happier and we are so proud of them! They are going to be great parents. And I am going to be a great aunt that spoils my first nephew!

Did I mention he’s going to be spoiled? Jenny and I were so excited the next day we went shopping and couldn’t stop ourselves! Who said there aren’t any cute boys clothes out there!

Thanks for sharing this special moment with us.

Sharing is caring!

  1. Awww, this is so cute! I love the birdies 🙂 And congrats to your sister & brother-in-law!

  2. Lol, an amazing concept for making these characters and make these memories wonderful for someone. This is the great news that you will get a boy and the color of the cake from inside is cool. I’ll try to make some characters for me and my family too.
