Plus Size jumpsuits that flatter all. Whether it’s a jumpsuit or a romper don’t be afraid to wear it… well unless you have to pee.

plus size jumpsuit fashion

As a plus size woman I was told a lot of “fashion rules” growing up. Don’t wear stripes, black looks great on you, that makes you look stumpy. It’s hard not to let those things effect you and become engrained as you select your wardrobe season after season.

When loft announced their plus size collection last year. I knew it was something I had been waiting for my whole adult life. I had seen my sister shop there for over a decade. I admired their clothes from the bench in the fitting room as I waited for her to try on all their cute clothes.

That day I went to Loft’s website and went way out my comfort zone. I bought a romper. A romper?! Yes a romper and I wore that romper all summer. In fact I wore it so much that I just had to have my tailor fix them hem that had fallen.

Now it’s a joke amongst my friends that if I see a jumpsuit in my size it is most likely coming home with me. In my opinion the jumpsuit is the new dress. In fact when you are looking for them online most likely you are going to find them in the dress category.

5 reasons every plus size woman should own a jumpsuit

1. They’re on trend.

Growing-up plus size it was always really difficult to follow trends. Now that the selection of plus size fashion is much larger I pay attention to trends more. Heck I have heard Andy Cohen talk for years about how he looooves a one piece or a jumpsuit. If a housewife is worthy of this trend so is a plus size woman.

Jumpsuits are versatile. They work with statement accessories and layers i.e a denim or leather jacket.

Tip: Belt it. Whether it comes with a belt or you add this braided belt. Belting a jumpsuit gives you a shape. accentuating your curves and flattering your figure.

2. They’re effortless.

A jumpsuit or romper much like a dress is effortless. Grab it out of your closet with a pair of sandal or heels and you look fashionable and put together. Pair your jumpsuit with a bold lip, statement necklace or a belt and you will be the best dressed in the room.

Every year I buy a new outfit for my birthday last year it was a Loft romper and predictably I got another Loft romper for this year!

What’s the difference between a jumpsuit and a romper?

A jumpsuit is a one piece that has pants attached and a romper is a one piece with shorts. But what about a jumper? A jumper typically is a sleeveless one piece and a shirt is worn under it.

3. They’re comfortable.

Comfort is key. While I love wearing dresses there just is something about pants that is way more comfortable. In fact most jumpsuits feel like you’re wearing pajamas. There’s a reason why growing up onesie pjs were so popular.

Tip: Not sure about fit? Order a size up. Especially if you are bigger in the stomach area.

4. They’re flattering.

Find the jumpsuit that works with your body type. For me that is a jumpsuit with more of a wide leg than a from fitting pant. I also look for jumpsuits that can be belted or come with a belt. My waist is the smallest part of me so I like to have a line that defines it.

4. They give you confidence.

Never in my life did I think I would take this photo and with a stranger no less. When I put on this Old Navy jumpsuit I became a new person. I was just oozing with confidence and I had to capture it. I was standing taller and not wanting to hide in a crowd but be seen when I walked into a room.

Jumpsuits are perfect for

  • A night out

  • Date night

  • A concert or festival

  • BBQ

  • Farmer’s Market

  • Brunch

5. They’re so many to choose from.

Now a year or two ago it was really hard to find a variety of plus size jump suits. Now it seems like you can decide between what style, pattern, color or brand.

Other jumpsuits I am crushing on!
