How to Paint Crisp Lines When Stenciling Pallets

How to Paint Crisp Lines When Stenciling Pallets

I paint a lot of pallet signs and I share a lot of them on Weekend Craft but I have recently realized that I haven't shared my technique for how to paint crisp lines when stenciling a pallet. It's such a simple trick that can save hours of either touch up or completely redoing a sign. Nothing is worse than cutting the wood, assembling the sign, cutting the vinyl, and painting only to pull off the stencil and see that the paint had bled through the stencil.

How to Stencil a Pallet Sign and Free Cut File

How to Stencil a Pallet Sign and Free Cut File

Pallet signs sure have been popular on Weekend Craft the past few months. So I thought today I would show you how I stencil pallet signs. This was also great timing because its Silhouette Challenge time and this month's theme was home decor with the added bonus of using wood. Needless to say this month's challenge was right up my alley. Now I get request all the time from family and friends to make them a project that they have seen on the site and this was on of those occasions. You may have seen this sign before here when I was getting ready to head to a show.

DIY Large Glitter Confetti

DIY Large Glitter Confetti

My friend's sister recently turned thirty. They were having a small get together at a restaurant and wanted to decorate the table in a way that made her feel special on her day but was also very easy to clean up. Let's face it restaurants hate confetti. That's where I came in she asked if there was any way to make large confetti.... (insert baffled look from me). With a pack of glitter card stock at hand I made 5 inch confetti. Yup 5 inches and they looked awesome! Who knew!

DIY Zip Code Pallet Sign

DIY Zip Code Pallet Sign

Recently it was my friends birthday and she loves pallet signs. So it seemed like a no brainer to make her one. She recently bought a house in the coastal beach town of Bristol, RI. Now if you live in Bristol you are proud of it especially in the summer. The town is known nationally as the oldest 4th of July celebration celebrating since 1785. The oldest continuous celebration of it's kind.

Also it's the second Monday of the month. You know what that means right? It's the Silhouette Challenge! This months theme is Summer so make sure you stick around until the end for 14 Summer projects all made from a Silhouette!

How Silhouette Connect for Adobe Illustrator Works

How Silhouette Connect for Adobe Illustrator Works

Thinking about buying Silhouette Connect but not really sure how it works? I use connect almost every time I use my Cameo. As a graphic designer who uses Illustrator daily Connect seemed like a good choice for an alternative software. When I was researching before I bought Silhouette Connect I didn't find much information out there which is the major reason I am writing this. Also I often get asked questions about Connect on my blog and also in Facebook groups.

Engagement Party Banner

Engagement Party Banner

Back in October my brother and his girlfriend got engaged after being together for 10 years! So an engagement party was definitely in order. We kept it small with just immediate family at my house, which is small so I couldn't fit much more than that! The week before Michaels was having one of their crazy sales on scrapbook paper with an additional coupon for your whole purchase. So needless to say I had a lot of paper on hand including this gorgeous metallic gold.

ExtraCared for Onesie

ExtraCared for Onesie

I don't often write about my 9 to 5 (because really who wants to hear about that) but today is an exception because recently my two worlds merged for a few hours. I helped throw another baby shower at work (click here to see a bunny themed work baby shower).  I work at CVS along side designers that work on the ExtraCare loyalty program. So when one of the designers was pregnant it just seemed naturally or punny to make an ExtraCare onesie.

Pallet Signs and the Silhouette Challenge

It's that time again! Silhouette Challenge time! This months theme was all about home decor. Which is very appropriate since I just moved into my new home. Do you know I don't even have one thing hanging on my wall yet? I just can't decide what sort of style I am leaning towards. Anyway I had two big events coming up (Signature Finishes opening and Brimfield) where I needed to create some pallet signs to sell. So I thought I would share those with you this month.

Blogiversary and a Silhouette Gift Basket Giveaway

Blogiversary and a Silhouette Gift Basket Giveaway

Weekend Craft has turned one and what a year it has been! I feel like this has been a year of transformation and change. I originally had started this blog when my gradschool internship had ended and my freelance work was at a low. Naturally I started to be more crafty in my spare time. After a few craft shows I had been asked how I made things or what was my next project. Now in no way have I ever been a fabulous writer (grammar is not my thing and I struggle with spelling) (I also really like to put my thoughts in parenthesis' if you haven't noticed yet). My blog has never been about the writing but more about developing my voice and sharing projects with my friends and family. Never in my wildest dreams did I think others would follow along!
