Simple storage shelves for your office or craft room.

Simple storage shelves for your office or craft room.

Over the long weekend I finally got down into my craft room and what's the first thing I did? I made simple storage shelves for my craft room. I was at home depot grabbing stuff for my kitchen renovation and in the back of my head I knew I needed additional storage to organize the space. I wandered into the storage/organization aisle and made a couple of passes wondering what would be best for the space. I have a lot of small containers of paint and a lot of vases and jars. I liked the idea of shelving but the laminate shelving left much to be desired. For the cost of a shelf I knew I could cut and paint my own. So I grabbed brackets and headed over to the lumber department.

How to make a shiplap headboard

How to make a shiplap headboard

Today I am sharing how to make a DIY shiplap headboard. Last week I had the pleasure of partnering up with Habitat for Humanity and 13 other bloggers to help style a Habitat House in Portland Connecticut. Each blogger paired up with another blogger and was assigned a room. I was lucky enough to style the teenage boys room with Stephanie from Sandpaper and Glue. So where did we start? Where we all start of course, Pinterest. The teenager created a Pinterest board that reflected his style. He liked a mix of clean lines, wood, industrial and technology.

French Provincial End Table Makeover

French Provincial End Table Makeover

A little over a year ago I was browsing my local thrift shop and saw this French Provincial end table for only $7.99. I immediately thought that would be a beautiful piece for my bedroom if I refinished it. Well as it goes when you have a project for yourself it usually gets put on the back burner. So this piece moved with me to the new house then sat getting collecting dust in my basement. Until last week! I had a long weekend off from work and I decided this was my weekend project. So I said no to all my potential plans and went down into the basement to paint!

How to Update Handles with Rub 'n Buff

How to Update Handles with Rub 'n Buff

Often the first thing you do to update a piece of furniture you're making over is replacing the handles. That doesn't always need to be the case. If you like the look of the handles with the piece there's a simple way to give the handles new life. I just finished a new project (check back Monday) I refinished a French Provincial end table. I loved the regal feel of the piece so I decided to keep the handles.

Mint Painted End Table Makeover

Mint Painted End Table Makeover

A few weeks ago I scored this table after a yard sale was over. I was searching for a yard sale I had found on my yard sale app, after going up and down the street 3 times I was about to give up. I stopped at a house with a sweet couple chatting with a neighbor in their drive way. They were standing there with this table next to them. I asked them about the street number and it turned out I had put in County St. instead of County Rd. in my GPS.

DIY Filing Cabinet Makeover

DIY Filing Cabinet Makeover

I was lucky enough to be gifted a hand-me-down filing cabinet. Recently my craft supplies have just outgrown my craft armoire. I was excited to have a new storage solution but I never imagined myself to have filing cabinet. I knew there had to be a way to spruce this up and give it new life.

With a lot of googling I managed to come across a slew of cabinets that had been painted and linen wrapped with fabric. This was exactly what I needed to do and it would actually turn into the accent color and piece I needed for my craft room I am putting together.

Where I find my next projects

I get emails and asked constantly where I find the furniture or small goods that I refinish or give new life to. The answer is I am constantly looking. I find myself at Saver's, Goodwill and Salvation Army at least once a week. It has turned into an obsession. And it is an obsession that friends and family know about so I am always getting calls "we are getting rid of this" or "we are putting vinyl shutters on the house would you like our old shutters?" And my answer is always yes! Some how when I think I am running out of space I always find some more space.
